Head of CG at Medical Education. Partner and founder and also responsible for CG tasks in the company, from pipeline development, hardware and team management to generalist artist. We developed a set of tools for Dental simulations.
Tools like carving the teeth, where geometry needed to be removed and leave uvs for proper shading behind, we developed it in Houdini using Voxels, where the bur from the drill removes them and rebuild a new mesh. This calculation is done per frame at different resolutions.
Fluids, fractures, skin deformation and others have been done through a wide variety of tools and plugins.
Due to the amount of frames in the project (2hr. 170,000 aprox), we decided to go for GPU rendering and setup a farm with merely 5 pcs and 15 GTX780 graphic cards and used Redshift as render engine.
